          Love Lines Issue #16

                       News  &  Praise

Christophe Dembele
Bamako, Mali

On July 18, 2002, Bethel Crisis Line Center opened. The Lord led
us to open Bethel Center to assist people who have spiritual
problems.

Several people who love Jesus help with phone counseling
and other parts of our ministry. Three pastors supported and en-
couraged our vision for a telephone crisis ministry. More than
eighteen prayer partners intercede for our ministry.  It is im-
portant to keep confidential the things callers share with us
building trust is necessary.

As we inform local pastors and church members about
Bethel Center, they provide us with prayer and financial help.
Pastor Diarra and Pastor Kone advise us because they under-
stand the phone counseling ministry, especially in a French
speaking country.

The beginning of the minisry was difficult.  We appreci-
ated the Love Lines handbook, but we needed to have it trans-
lated into French. Because of your help and with Pastor
Tiowa’s advice, we are now blessed  with many telephone
calls.  (Pastor Diarra is now completing the translation of the
Directors Training Manual into French, for which we are truly
grateful.)

They are suffering with serious diabolical attacks, which in-
clude sorcery and other spiritual problems. There are many
divorce cases and young people, especially, are struggling with
sexual issues. Our target is to help small children on the
streets, people with handicaps and homeless people.

We are open seven days a week, 24 hours a day; have a
monthly prayer chain. 30 visitors each day ask for counsel
concerning torture, hunger, disease, marriage, education,
abortion, unemployment, drugs,  abuse, prostitution, crime,
witch-hunting, alcoholism, fear, depression and suicides.

Our support comes through training courses, conferences
and private individual gifts. The Holy Spirit helps us as we
inform the church of the phone counseling and as we lead people
to salvation in Jesus.

Evangelizing Asia for Christ Love Lines Crisis Center is do-
ing well, praise be to God.  We are praying to open one more
center in Gurupura where my elder brother Pastor M. John is
doing ministry.  After the work on the building is completed
and the telephone is in place,  we can begin the work of the minis-
try. Please join us in prayer for the new center’s needs, includ-
ing telephone counselors.

Evangelizing Asia for Christ opened in August 2003.  We
have received hundreds of calls and had 145 salvations.  The tes-
timonies resulting from work at the center, both on the phone
and in person, are numerous.

One day a lady was standing in front of our center, feeding her
child.  The director was lead by the Holy Spirit to invite her to
come inside the building. The director shared the gospel with
her, told her about the new life in Christ, how to be filled with
the Holy Spirit and gave her the center’s number so she could
call any time. The lady left filled with joy because of her conver-
sion.  She shared the gospel with her husband and five sisters. All
of them ultimately received Jesus as their Savior and are now
active participants in our church.

We minister to many orthodox Hindus. One Hindu lady
came to our center with a friend. We gave her a Bible.  She has
called the center many times since then asking for prayer dur-
ing times of trouble, as well as, for healing.  She took us to her
school friends, who were saved after we shared the gospel with
them. They learned how to read the Bible and lead others to
Christ.

A man, after calling the center hundreds of times, finally
received Jesus, and was baptized. I sent him to Bible school.
Now he is a phone counselor, pastor of one of our home
churches and a powerful witness for Christ.

Evangelizing Asia for Christ has sent five more young stu-
dents to Bible school. They are all on fire for the Lord now. God
has healed many people through this telephone ministry.
A pastor called and told us about a man who had been sick
for a month.  He was so weak that he couldn’t walk.  After our
prayer for healing he got up and walked.  All the praise goes to
God for that. Please pray for the believers in Bangalore. Hindu
people are trying to take their land by bringing them to court
with false accusations.  But God is good. Powerful testimonies of
God’s divine intervention are coming in concerning these lies.

Pastor Ebiasali Emolu

Soroti, Uganda

Love Lines Crisis Center Soroti opened in December 2000,
thanks to Almighty God and to Dan Morstad, who encouraged
me when I met him in Amsterdam.

Our 2003 report, beginning in January, includes 40 counselors
who preached the gospel and counseled in many churches.
The Holy Spirit was moving and there were many healings.
Above all, 250 people gave their lives to the Lord. In all, 800
salvations were recorded in 2003.

The Otuboi Love Lines Crisis Center and the one in Soroti were
both in strong operation with their mobile phones.  Then on
August 15, 2003, the rebels came and took everything from the
two offices and even totally looted my big house. Because of
the rebel insurgency in this country thousands of people
have been left traumatized and impoverished. The rebels
abducted young children, raped women, looted people’s prop-
erty and burnt houses, leaving a number of people homeless, or-
phaned, widowed, poor and dead.

The Internally Displaced Persons camps are congested.
Over six thousand children alone are in the camps. There is
immorality in the camps. Pregnancy among girls under the age
of 18 has resulted in high rates of infant and maternal mortality.
The Red Cross and World Vision’s ministries have been
limited. My ministry is operating in one of the largest camps.

The insurgency in this Soroti district destroyed a number of
buildings, including schools, health centers and houses. The
economic and health situations are disastrous, especially among
the poor.  Disease is rampant because of the lack of water and
sub-standard sanitation. Malaria, measles, pneumonia and
diarrhea are common.

Destruction of crops and animals used in cultivation have
led to famine.  Only three-quarters of the population eat even
once a day.

Psychological suffering is part of the war-torn country, but
the biggest problem is the spiritual suffering.  Drinking alcohol,
smoking, pornography and sexual activity leading to prostitu-
tion, STD and HIV/AIDS have resulted in the crowded camps.

Our family is in a camp with no food, water or medical care.
At times we slept in bushes with our children. But God has
protected us. In January we re-opened our center with no
books, training materials or telephone and only 15 of our
previous 40 phone counselors. Still, God is our provider.

This year we plan to open a school for orphans. I want to
thank God for what he has done for this ministry. I have
preached in churches and after I preached from Luke 7:21, I
prayed for a man who was blind and then he could see.

We thank God for healing him and for opening four new
churches. Although we are suffering and in this camp, God is
with us (Psalm 4:1-7 and Psalm 7:1-5).

Rev. James Abedingo

Bolgatanga, Ghana

Greetings to you from Our Love Concerned Crisis Centre in
Northern Ghana, upper East Bolgatanga.  By the grace of God
we are doing well.

When I wanted to do this ministry I shared the vision with
several people including my wife.  I told them that I was looking
to the Lord who is able to supply all of my needs according
to His riches in Christ Jesus. The telephone ministry belongs
to God. I am His servant.

I left a cottage industry job, went to Bible school, began Our
Love Concerned Crisis Centre and found six strong churches
who support us. God has also blessed us to build a mission
house and a school.

When Our Love Concerned Crisis Centre needed money I
went on talk radio and made an appeal.  The next day the money
came from a brother. I thank the Lord for bringing us together to
build His kingdom.

A teacher from one of the Secondary Schools gave us her
testimony.  She strictly disciplined one of her students. The
student told the teacher that she would see what would happen
to her. Shortly after that day the teacher became very sick. She
went to different hospitals for treatment, but remained sick.

The husband heard of us and called me and told me his wife’s
story. We prayed with the woman for deliverance, going
through a process of prayers, and by the grace of God she is
free. The student confessed that she was a witch and that our
prayer touched her. She came to us and prayed and confessed
and believed that Jesus is Lord. She said that three other girls
had come together to torment the teacher.   I appreciate all that
God has used me to do for Him through our centre.
